OWASA valve repair work will force the closing of two of the northbound lanes of South Columbia Street near Cameron Avenue (see map below) starting Monday, March 9. It is expected to completed by Friday, March 13 (weather permitting). Closures are expected to occur between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily during the construction period. Additionally, the sidewalk on the eastern shoulder of South Columbia Street will also be closed to pedestrians and will remain closed at all times through the duration of this project. No water service interruptions are expected.

Chapel Hill Transit rider should board buses at either the ROTC Building just north of South Road / McCauley Street or the Abernathy Hall stop north of Cameron Avenue.

Northbound traffic on South Columbia Street can expect significant delays are expected. Alternative northbound motorists may wish to use Ridge Road or head east on South Road to other northbound alternative roadways (i.e., Raleigh Street and Country Club Road).
