Bike Auction

Every year Transportation and Parking hosts the Annual Bike Auction with proceeds going to providing bike racks for campus, upkeep of the bike repair stations and the Tar Heel Bikes bike share program. More than 100 abandoned bicycles are available at the auction, which is usually held during the month of September.

2023 Bike Auction

The 2023 Bike Auction will be held in the Business School Parking Deck (lower level) on Tuesday, Sept. 26. To participate in the bike auction, you must arrive at 5:15 p.m. to register and view the available bikes. The auction begins at 5:45 p.m. Visa debit and Visa/Mastercard/Discover credit cards accepted.

More than 100 bicycles, ranging in condition from poor to excellent, are available for auction. Brands include but are not limited to:

Registration is required for all bikes on campus. Cyclists receive a coupon for 50% off a U-lock from UNC Student Stores and a registration sticker for their bikes.
