Construction of the elevated plaza that will connect the Mary Ellen Jones and Thurston Bowles buildings will begin Wednesday, May 24, 2017, and is expected to be completed October 2017. During this period, the Thurston Bowles loading dock and adjacent parking area will be closed, and access will be restricted to deliveries and emergency vehicles only.
Pedestrians should remain alert to traffic changes and follow signage designating pedestrian reroutes. Pedestrians crossing Manning Drive should use the pedestrian bridge to access buildings beyond Thurston Bowles and the Lineberger Cancer Research Center.
