The Commuter Alternative Program rewards faculty, staff and students who choose to take the bus, join a rideshare, ride a bike or walk to campus. Sustainable transportation options improve air quality, build community and reduce traffic congestion to make everyone’s commute better.

CAP Eligibility Rules

  • Must live off campus
  • Must forgo an on-campus daytime parking permit
  • Must be a UNC student or employee (paid by the University or Hospitals) to receive a GoPass or vanpool subsidy

Short Range Transit Plan Public Input Sessions

Chapel Hill Transit will be hosting two public input sessions on the proposed changes of Short Range Transit Plan on Monday, Jan. 27 at the Student Union and Thursday, Jan. 30 at UNC Hospitals.

Medical Education Building Construction Project

The bus stop at Carrington Hall will be closed on Monday, Jan. 13 to accommodate construction for the Medical Education Building project. Transit riders may use the Health Sciences bus stop during this closure.

Holiday Schedules & Closures Winter Break 2019 – Holiday Hours of Operation

Transportation and Parking and multiple transit systems will operate under reduced hours while students are on Winter Break, beginning as early as December 16.
