The Commuter Alternative Program (CAP) offers the following benefits to members:

  • Discounts – use the CAP Discount Card for deals at participating restaurants and shops
  • Prize Drawings – automatic entry for a chance to win prizes, donated by local businesses
  • Zipcar Discount – become a Zipcar member for free!
  • Monthly E-Newsletter – “Commuter News” includes promotions, events, transit alerts, traffic detours, and more! New CAP members are automatically subscribed and may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
  • Free 1-Day Parking (sign in to print permit)
    • Permanent employees may print 1 permit per calendar month
      Permits can be used in S11 lots on Skipper Bowles Dr, UNC/Town Park-and-Ride lots, or remote work locations (“R” zone) – excluding R2 lot.
    • Students may print 1 permit per semester
      Permits can be used in S11-Manning lot or UNC/Town Park-and-Ride lots.
  • Weeknight Parking Passes
  • Emergency Rides
    • P2P’s Emergency Ride Back provides service to local Park-and-Ride lots and residences in Chapel Hill/Carrboro.
    • GoTriangle’s Emergency Ride Home can be used for trips outside Chapel Hill/Carrboro. (for employees only)
    • PART vanpool riders can utilize PART’s Emergency Ride Home program. (for employees only)
    • CT Express riders may call Chatham Transit at 919-542-5136. (M-F, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
  • Subsidies – Eligible commuters may choose between:
    • GoPass to ride GoTriangle / PART (must live outside Chapel Hill Transit service area)
    • Chatham Transit Express Pass (must live outside Chapel Hill Transit service area)
    • Vanpool discount of $30/month (deducted from GoTriangle or PART vanpool fares)
