University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill students and employees may now purchase a daily Park & Ride permit through the Parkmobile website or the mobile app.
All University-operated Park & Ride lots will now accept mobile payments:
- 725 MLK Jr. Blvd. Park & Ride – Zone 4465
- Chatham County Park & Ride – Zone 4466
- Friday Center Dr. Park & Ride – Zone 4462
- Hedrick Building Park & Ride – Zone 4464
- Highway 54 Lot Park & Ride – Zone 4463
Town of Chapel Hill implemented this same program through Parkmobile in 2017 in all of its Park and Ride lots.
The implementation of Parkmobile for UNC-Chapel Hill Park & Ride customers means that employees and students no longer need to purchase a daily permit in-person from the Transportation and Parking office but may pay for parking directly from a mobile device. The option to pay from a mobile device is open to all Commuter Alternative Program members, university and hospital employees, and students. Weekly permit purchases should still be made in-person.
“We have received positive responses from the initial implementation of Parkmobile for hourly parking in the Fall and are excited about the improved flexibility for our customers,” said Cheryl Stout, director of Transportation and Parking. “Not only will it enhance the user experience, but it will make daily permits more accessible and easier to use for the campus community.”
The University implemented Parkmobile first in 2017 for hourly and metered parking across campus, which was also implemented by the Town of Chapel Hill at its meters.
To take advantage of the Parkmobile implementation in Park & Ride lots, you must be a UNC employee or student. Parking at metered lots and hourly parking on campus are open to all employees, students and visitors, and accept Parkmobile as a payment option.
CAP members may also use daily Park & Ride permits. If you are not a member of CAP and would like to take part in this affordable and sustainable program, visit the CAP page to determine whether or not you are eligible and to register. Daily and weekly Park & Ride permits through UNC-Chapel Hill are currently available online. Annual permits are also available through CAP.
