A car fire that occurred the morning of Nov. 10 in the Dogwood Parking Deck has impacted electrical service to the facility. The parking deck is currently closed and cars are not permitted to enter. Patients and visitors who were parked in the deck are being allowed to access their vehicles and leave the deck. Lighting is limited in the deck, please use caution when exiting the facility. UNC Police and UNC Hospitals Police may adjust traffic patterns and parking assignments for employees, patients and visitors as the situation evolves.

Friday, Nov. 11 UPDATE
The Dogwood Parking Deck will remain closed while repairs are made to the facility’s electrical system. It is anticipated that full repairs to the deck will take nine to twelve days to complete or until approximately Nov. 23.
Updates will be provided if there are any changes to this timeline. While the deck remains closed, please continue to use the following alternate parking arrangements.
Patients and visitors will park in the Jackson Parking Deck and the Ambulatory Care Lot. The Cardinal Parking Deck will be used should space be needed.
Employees with Jackson Deck (JD) permits will be directed to park in the Craige Deck, allowing the Jackson Deck to accommodate patient and visitor parking access.

The Jackson Parking Deck will not be available for parking for the Nov. 11 men’s basketball game. The Cardinal Parking Deck is available for game day public parking beginning at 5 p.m. for $10, and the Bell Tower Parking Deck is available for game day public parking beginning at 5 p.m. at no charge. Patient and visitor parking is being temporarily redirected to the Cardinal Parking Deck, the Jackson Parking Deck and the Ambulatory Care Lot.
Evening shift employees that typically park in the Dogwood Parking Deck should park in the Craige Parking Deck or the Bell Tower Deck.
