UNC-Chapel Hill has been named one of the 2023 Best Workplaces for Commuters by the National Center for Transit Research. The University was one of 72 colleges and universities across the nation and one of 13 in North Carolina to receive this recognition.
Best Workplaces for Commuters recognizes U.S.-based employers, universities and sites the meet the program’s National Standard of Excellence by providing exceptional commuter benefits and collectively changing how more than two million employees and students commute to and from work each day.
Carolina provides commuter incentives to the University community through the nationally recognized Commuter Alternative Program (CAP), designed to reward faculty, staff and students who use alternate modes of travel. According to the University’s 2019 Commuter Survey, 30% of employees and 73% of students travel to campus by using transit, biking, walking or ride-share options.
