The Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) will begin an emergency sewer line repair project along Raleigh Street beginning Monday, Feb. 27. The project will be completed in two phases and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. Project work hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Beginning Feb. 27, Raleigh Street will be closed to through traffic between Lenoir Drive and the crosswalk south of Davis Library. The ATM Drive parking lot and the adjacent sidewalk along Raleigh Street will also be closed, and pedestrians should use the eastern side of Raleigh Street when traveling through this area.

During the second phase of the project, the northbound lane of Raleigh Street will be closed to through traffic between South Road and the crosswalk south of Davis Library. The adjacent eastern sidewalk along the Winston and Connor residence halls will also be closed, and pedestrians should use the western side of Raleigh Street when traveling through this area.

Point-to-Point (P2P) Express and Baity Hill Shuttle routes will detour along Country Club Road during this project.

Visit Chapel Hill Transit for information on route detours and alternate stops.
