As of July 1, 2024, the UNC-Chapel Hill community is eligible for a free GoPass for GoTriangle bus routes. GoTriangle provides direct bus service between Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh and other parts of the Triangle. Free park-and ride lots allow riders to park near a bus stop, and all buses are equipped with bike racks and are wheelchair accessible.

All University faculty, staff, students and affiliates and UNC Hospital employees with an active UNC-Chapel Hill email are eligible for a free GoPass. Previously, free GoPasses were limited to University riders who do not have an on-campus daytime parking permit and live outside the Chapel Hill Transit service area.

To get a free GoPass for Aug.1, 2024 through July 31, 2025, riders should visit the Transportation and Parking GoPass Registration page for detailed instructions on downloading the Umo app, creating an Umo account, and registering with Transportation and Parking to receive the Umo benefit code. Note: Riders who previously used the July benefit code for free service will need to register and obtain the new 2024-2025 benefit code to continue free GoPass service.

For questions about eligibility or registering for a free GoPass, contact Landon Coley, transportation planner for Transportation and Parking, at lcoley@unc.edu.
