University Visitors
Dedicated visitor parking facilities are located throughout the UNC-Chapel Hill campus, providing hourly parking access to UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC Health Care System. Hours of operation are posted at entrances. Parking for Events may impact lot availability.
Visitors to UNC-Chapel Hill may park at one of the following locations:
- Rams Head Parking Deck
- Morehead Planetarium Lot
- Raleigh Road Lot
- Digital parking meters, primarily along South and Country Club Roads
Employees and students needing a short-term or hourly parking option may park at Rams Head for up to 24 hours at a time at the hourly rate or at campus meters. For more information, see Visitor & Patient Parking Rates.
Departments may reserve parking for visitors by completing the online request form at least 10 days in advance.
Hourly Parking
Visitors or others parking on an hourly basis without reservations through a department may pay the hourly rates when lot is not reserved for department or University events.

Departments may reserve parking for visitors by completing the online event form. Requests are evaluated based on availability and should be submitted at least one week in advance. Any changes to the existing reservation must be submitted within 48 hours of the actual event.

Meters require payment; permits not valid at metered spaces. Meters allow payment for parking by license plate. Please have license plate number ready for entry at meter station and follow the prompts.
Metered parking hours begin Monday at 7:30 am and run through Friday at 5 p.m., and accept ParkMobile, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover as payment methods. The maximum time allowed for metered parking is posted on the meter and ranges from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Metered spaces may be restricted during event operations.
Parking on campus between 5 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday requires a permit.
- For many lots on campus, visitors may obtain a $1 temporary one-night pass through the ParkMobile App, ParkMobile phone number, ParkMobile website, or a designated weeknight pay station.
- To reserve event parking during weeknights, please complete the online event registration form.
- Pay lots and meters will continue to operate during weeknight hours.
