First‐Year & Transfer Student Orientation
First-Year Student Parking & Shuttle Services
Parking is designated in the S-11 Manning Parking Lot for the New Student Orientation Program. The New Student & Carolina Parent Programs will make a permit available for the student’s assigned Orientation Session. Bring the Orientation parking permit that was attached to the confirmation email sent to you two weeks prior to your session. Please make appropriate travel arrangements to arrive on campus between 8:15 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Day 1 of New Student Orientation.
Shuttle services are provided by Carolina Livery shuttle buses for the following times:
Orientation Shuttle Service (Day 1)
- Check-In Shuttle Service operates 7 a.m. – 9 a.m. with Carolina Livery buses operating on a continuous loop picking up from S-11 Manning Lot bus pull off and dropping off at Cobb Residence Hall
Orientation Check-In (Day 2)
- Check-Out Shuttle Service operates 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. picking up at the Cobb Residence Hall and dropping off at the S-11 Manning Lot.
Transfer Student Parking
Parking is designated in the S-11 Manning Parking Lot for the Transfer Student Orientation Program. The New Student & Carolina Parent Program will make a permit available for the student’s assigned Orientation Session. Bring the Orientation parking permit that was attached to the confirmation email sent to you two weeks prior to your session. Please plan to arrive no later than 7:30 a.m. on the morning of Transfer Orientation; staff will greet you in the parking lot.

Campus Transit Services
Point to Point (P2P) is a UNC-owned and operated transportation service. The Summer Express is a fare-free, after-dark fixed-route shuttle service for students that operates 7 days a week from 1 p.m. – 4 a.m. serving UNC residence halls and Franklin Street. P2P Summer Express serves designated bus stops on campus every 10 minutes. Shuttles do not operate during class breaks and on University-recognized holidays during the summer months. Chapel Hill Transit provides service between UNC, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro. These buses are free and run frequently throughout the day. On-campus circulators — U and RU routes — run throughout the day from early morning to early evening during the weekdays, with reduced service during weekends and UNC academic breaks.
