UNC-Chapel Hill’s parking permit year begins August 1 and ends July 31. The annual parking costs are established in the Traffic and Parking Ordinance. The tables below break down the parking costs for the current year.

Payroll deductions are typically based on 24 pay periods for biweekly and 12 pay periods for monthly.

Employee parking permits are prorated weekly. Employee permits that are not eligible for payroll deduction must be paid at purchase. Payroll deductions are determined by dividing the total amount owed on the permit by the remaining payroll periods available for deduction in the permit year, beginning August 1 and ending July 31.

An employee’s payroll scale is identified on April 1 of each year and remains unchanged until the following year. An employee must notify Transportation and Parking of a change in status that reduces their annual salary.
