The Tar Heel 10 Miler race will affect traffic on campus and in Chapel Hill the morning of Saturday, April 20. With more than 8,000 runners participating, there will be many road closures and traffic diversions/detours of which you should be aware.

Road Closures

Raleigh Road

Raleigh Road will be completely closed to traffic between Country Club Road and the intersection of US 15/501. The roadways will clear and normal traffic is expected to resume by 10:30 a.m. Electronic signage will be placed on US 15/501 and NC 54 during race week to remind motorists of this important road closure.

Other Road Closures

Most road closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., although some ramps and lanes will close as early as 4 a.m. See the Tar Heel 10 Miler website for additional detour and closure information.
