Beginning Friday, July 5 through Wednesday, July 10, UNC-Chapel Hill will experience temporary parking and traffic impacts in support of a film production taking place on campus.

Parking Impacts

Several parking areas will be closed in support of filming operations and will not be available for daytime, weeknight or visitor parking at the following days and times:

During these closures, permit holders in lots designated for full closure should park in the Cobb Parking Deck or Nash Parking Lot. Vehicles not removed from lots reserved for filming prior to closure will be relocated.

Traffic and Transit Impacts

Roads on and adjacent to campus will be closed during this production at the following days and times:

Monday, July 8

  • 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.:
East Franklin Street (between South Columbia Street and Hillsborough Street)
Henderson Street (between East Franklin Street and East Rosemary Street)
  • 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
Rolling roadblocks on looped route following East Franklin Street to South Columbia Street to East Cameron Avenue to Raleigh Street.
  • 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.:
West/East Cameron Avenue (between Pittsboro Street and Raleigh Street)
South Columbia Street (between South Road and Franklin Street)

Tuesday, July 9

  • 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.:
East Cameron Avenue (between South Columbia Street and Raleigh Street)

Traffic in these areas will be detoured, and drivers should plan routes to campus accordingly. Drivers needing to enter/exit driveways or parking areas along closed routes on campus should present their UNC One Card to traffic monitors for access. Impacted permit holders will also receive an access pass by email.

Chapel Hill Transit will implement detours on impacted routes. While Chapel Hill Transit will make every attempt to maintain schedules, riders should plan for delays due to rerouting. Visit Chapel Hill Transit for information on detours and alternate stops.

Parking lot and road closure schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Please check this page for updates and allow time for planning alternate routes and parking as needed.
