P2P offers on-demand services that operate between pick-up and drop-off locations according to passenger needs. TransLoc Rider is a mobile app that allows ride requesting and real-time vehicle tracking of P2P vans for a range of on-demand services. Riders log in with their ONYEN and request on-demand services from smartphones, using the guided steps to enter a pick-up point and destination on campus. Riders without a smartphone may use the TransLoc website to request a ride. Hospital employees may also use TransLoc Rider for approved services.

Monday through Friday, the P2P Accessibility Shuttle provides services strictly for authorized passengers with accessibility needs between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m..

On Saturdays and Sundays, the accessibility shuttle runs from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. P2P vans are equipped with wheelchair lifts.

Chapel Hill Transit and GoTriangle buses are ADA accessible with stops located throughout the community and region. Chapel Hill Transit provides EZ Rider service for qualified riders, and GoTriangle provides ACCESS.

P2P provides After-Dark rides for students and employees. Pick-up and drop-off points are limited to on-campus locations or specific off-campus locations owned or operated by the University. P2P does not offer service to buildings that are normally closed, for example, during the evening or weekend hours or to Park-and-Rides unless it is for an Emergency Ride Back. After-dark service provides rides to students who are not served by the P2P Express Route and to employees. Students with pick-up and drop-off points on the P2P Express route are eligible for the on-demand van service from 4:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.

P2P provides transportation to and from campus locations and Campus Health Services (during hours of operation) or UNC Hospitals’ Emergency Room which is available to students during all hours of operation.

NOTE: Emergency conditions requiring treatment en route such as bleeding or other severe health issues must be addressed to the Orange County EMS service (Call 911).

P2P transports CAP members from campus locations to Park-and-Rides and other locations within Chapel Hill or Carrboro.  P2P does not pick up from Park-and-Ride lots.

Service is provided Monday through Friday for the following:

  • The CAP member’s carpool driver has to unexpectedly leave early or stay late.
  • The CAP member or an immediate family member gets sick or has a severe crisis.
  • The CAP member must work unscheduled overtime and Chapel Hill Transit is not running.

Repeated requests for Emergency Ride Back will be verified to ensure that the circumstances meet the established guidelines.

Employees may also join an Emergency Ride Home program for GoTriangle or PART to get to other locations. These programs are separate from CAP, so additional registration is required.

Additional Services

Pedestrian Accessibility Shuttle Service (PASS)

PASS uses golf carts to provide service between buildings for UNC employees and students with disabilities. This service is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., during the regular academic year (excluding holidays and academic breaks).

Service is provided on North Campus, in the blocked off area in the map below (between South Road, Franklin Street, Columbia Street, and Raleigh Street). The PASS cart cannot cross or be operated on public roads, except for Cameron Avenue.
